OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team lost in straight sets to Bellarmine University on Tuesday evening. The Knights hit over .300 on the night and only committed 14 errors in three sets.
The Knights (10-1) held a .310 attacking percentage in the opening set with 17 kills on 42 attempts. The Panthers (5-7) lost the opening set 25-10. A near equal fate was suffered in the second set as Bellarmine went ahead 2-0 after a 25-12 victory.
The Panthers came out with more force in the third set, taking a 10-6 lead. It was a run that included five straight points. The Knights pulled ahead midway through the frame and kept a two-point cushion for the rest of the set, winning 25-23.
Gabrielle Gallois finished with seven kills while
Danielle Brouillette and
Audrey Baysinger each collected six kills.
Lydia Jackson dished out 13 assists while
Nicole Venema led defensively with 14 digs.
The Panthers return to Great Midwest play on Friday by hosting Hillsdale. The match is scheduled to start at 7 PM.
