OWENSBORO, Ky. – For the eighth time this season the Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team reached the century mark for a 100-63 Great Midwest Athletic Conference win over Ohio Valley for their program-record 23rd straight win and their 45th straight victory at the Owensboro Sportscenter, the third longest streak in program history and longest active home win streak across the NCAA.
The Panthers improve to 24-2 overall and remain perfect in G-MAC play at 11-0 while the Fighting Scots fall to 2-22 overall and 1-10 in conference play.
Senior Jordan Jacks recorded his first career triple-double, and the first in the history of the G-MAC, with 18 points, 10 rebounds, all of which were defensive, and 10 assists. Fellow senior Ken-Jah Bosley continued his climb in the record books, passing George Tinsley at 2,014 career points. Bosley now sits in fourth with 2,021 points and trails Kelly Coleman in third by 56 points.
The Panthers wasted no time jumping out to a 23-7 lead less than six minutes into the game with 11 of those points coming from Bosley. At the 9:07 mark, Bosley scored on a jump shot to put the Panthers ahead by 20, and pass Tinsley with 2,015 points. Kentucky Wesleyan boasted a 53.7% shooting percentage from field goal range to Ohio Valley's 37.0% to take a 53-24 to halftime.
Ohio Valley was held scoreless for over five minutes in the second half, allowing the Panthers to jump out to a 33-point lead with over 14 minutes remaining. Josh Derksen dropped a three pointer midway through the half to put Kentucky Wesleyan ahead 81-42 for their largest lead of the game at 39 points. The Panthers stayed consistent and were able to hold their lead the remainder of the game with the Fighting Scots' smallest deficit at 27 points.
Bosley led all scorers with 21 points after shooting five-for-seven from behind the arc. Jacks tabbed 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, leading the team in rebounds and assists. Adam Stanford finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Derksen scored 13 points with a perfect three-for-three from three point range. Sam Williams and Charles Foster each scored 10 points and tabbed one steal. Jacks, Stanford and Derksen each recorded two steals.
Kentucky Wesleyan scored 38 points off of 22 turnovers and scored 16 second chance points. The Panthers bench outscored Ohio Valley's 22 to 10., and held a slight advantage in fast break points at 14-13. Kentucky Wesleyan scored 50 points in the paint to the Fighting Scots' 28.
The Panthers will have a quick break as they return to action on Monday hosting Salem International with tip off set for 2 pm.
