Wesleyan Falls in First Road Test

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite 16 points from Lily Grimes the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team fell 68-57 to Ohio Dominican University on Thursday evening. The Panthers slipped in the second half and could not catch-up in their first road contest of the season.

Emma Wolfe's three point basket with four minutes left in the first quarter gave the Panthers (4-3, 0-3 G-MAC) an early 12-6 lead. However, ODU (5-2, 2-0 G-MAC) rallied late and climbed to 18-17 by the end of the first 10 minutes.

The sharp shooting of Wesleyan was on display in the second quarter as Wolfe, Addie Reimbold, and Jasmine Shelt each hit a three-point basket in a 9-2 rally that built a 30-21 lead. Dominican caught fire, scoring 12 straight points over the next four minutes. Darian Rose capped off the run with a transition lay-up.

The Panthers went into the locker-room facing a 35-31 deficit. Wesleyan cut Dominican's lead to a single point four different times in the third, but could not take the lead. ODU again pulled away at the end of the frame and held 52-45 lead heading into the final stanza.

The deficit grew to 10 points with five minutes left in the contest as Wesleyan struggled to regain the range that was featured in the first 15 minutes of the contest.

Grimes finished with four rebounds to go along with her team-best 16 points. Reimbold grabbed six rebounds and collected five steals to go along with five points on the night. Wolfe added nine points off the bench.

The Panthers will travel to Cedarville, Ohio on Saturday to play Cedarville University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM CT.
