Balanced Attack Pushes Panthers Past Eagles

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Four Panthers tallied double digit points as the Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team cruised to its third straight win on Tuesday night, defeating Asbury University 85-53.  With the win, the Panther remain undefeated at 3-0.

Kentucky Wesleyan needed less than three minutes and thirty seconds to jump out to a double digit lead after opening the game with a 14-2 run.  The Eagles pulled within four midway through the first frame but sharp shooting from Jenna Martin allowed Kentucky Wesleyan to build the lead back up to 12 after one.  The Panthers boasted a 43.6 shooting percentage in the first half to take a 46-23 lead to the break.

The Panthers kept pounding after Addie Reimbold forced a turnover in the backcourt and tallied a fast break lay up for the first score of the second half.  A pair of lay ups and a three point basket from Martin increased Kentucky Wesleyan's lead to 32 with over 17 minutes remaining in the game.  A steady offense allowed the Panthers lead to hover around 28 points until Emma Wolfe drained a three and Keelie Lamb tabbed a lay up in the closing 90 seconds to take the 85-53 victory.

Lamb tabbed a career high 20 points along with five rebounds, three steals and one assist.  Martin was right behind with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Kaylee Clifford recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals while leading the team with three blocks.  Kirstie Henn tallied 12 points and four steals.

Reimbold flirted with a triple double, tallying 10 rebounds, eight points and a team high seven steals.  Shayla Wright led the Panthers with five assists while grabbing five rebounds.

Kentucky Wesleyan held the advantage in nearly every statistical category, tallying 40 points off turnovers, 19 second chance points, 22 points off the bench and 23 fast break points.  The Panthers nearly won the game in the paint, tallying 53 points in the paint to Asbury's 53 total points.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, November 25th, hosting Cincinnati Christian with tip off set for 12 pm CT.
