Lights Out Lamb Leads Panthers Past Eagles

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team continued its hot streak on Satruday afternoon, downing Cincinnati Christian 71-53 to improve to 4-0 on the season.  For the third straight game, Keelie Lamb scored at least 20 points in her first double double of the season.

The Panthers (4-0) built up a six point lead in the first quarter after Addie Reimbold opened up the game with a pair of jumpers.  The Eagles fought back and took a three point lead at the 1:3 mark to take a 21-18 lead after the opening frame.

Shayla Wright nailed a three point shot at the 8:36 mark of the second quarter to take the lead back for Kentucky Wesleyan.  Four minutes later, Wright converted a lay up to give the Panthers a 10-point lead, their first double digit lead of the game.  Cincinnati Christian closed the gap in the final minutes of the half, making it 39-36 at the break.

A strong Kentucky Wesleyan defense held the Eagles to just two points in the third quarter, allowing the Panthers to build up their lead to 52-38.  The Panthers extended their lead to 21 in the fourth quarter, their largest lead of the game, after Codie Drake tallied a free throw.

The Panthers shot 38.6% from the floor, scoring 32 points in the paint.  Kentucky Wesleyan scored 22 points off of turnovers and 13 second chance points.

Lamb led the Panthers with 22 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, five steals and one block.  Reimbold and Wright also reached double figure scoring, with Reimbold tabbing 16 points and nine rebounds while Wright tallied 10 points and four assists.

The Panther remain at home next week as they open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play against two of the newest members of the conference.  The University of Findlay comes to Owensboro on Thursday followed by Hillsdale College on Saturday.
