Panthers Sweep on Senior Day

OWENSBORO, KY. – It was a dominating performance from the Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team to end the regular season. Heading into the Great Midwest Conference Tournament, the Panthers defeated Ohio Dominican University in straight sets (25-15, 26-24, 25-10).
 
The Panthers (14-18, 9-8 GMAC) held a consistent .268 attacking percentage throughout the match as it was a team victory at Jones Gymnasium. Wesleyan won seven of the first eight points of the opening set and built a 20-13 lead late. Back-to-back aces from Audrey Baysinger completed a four-point run to end the first set 25-15.
 
Ohio Dominican (5-26, 3-14 GMAC gathered themselves in the second set after trailing 14-6. A few points later, ODU had won six straight and tied the set at 16. Danielle Brouillette's kill ended the rally. Dominican held a 24-23 lead late, but three straight by the Panthers stole the second set 26-24.
 
After winning the first point of the third, Nilah Roy served seven straight times as the Panthers were off to a 7-0 lead. The third stanza was all Panthers as Lydia Jackson held serve for a dozen points as Wesleyan converted on 11 straight to build a 20-3 lead.
 
It was a total team effort as Baysinger finished with eight kills. Brouillette finished with six kills and six blocks. Sierra Morrow also added six kills on the afternoon. Courtney Gildea dished out 16 assists while Jackson finished with 12 and nine digs.
 
The Panthers will travel to Hillsdale, Michigan next week for the Great Midwest Conference Tournament. Wesleyan will take on Lake Erie in the first round. The match is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 1:30 PM CT.
