OWENSBORO, KY. – It was a bounce-back Saturday for the Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball team at Jones Gymnasium. The Panthers rebounded from a Friday night loss to Lake Erie to defeat Ursuline in straight sets.
After dropping the first point of the match,
Nilah Roy held serve as Wesleyan won the next eight points, including two kills from
Danielle Brouillette. The Arrows (7-16, 2-10 GMAC) would inch their way back into the set and trailed 24-23 after back-to-back points, but Roy ended the threat with a kill, 25-23.
The Panthers (10-16, 6-6 GMAC) did not commit an error in the second set and again jetted out to a large lead. Wesleyan won the first nine points. Both Roy and
Gabrielle Gallois each recorded two kills in the run. This time the Arrows were unable to gain any traction and make a comeback, committing five attacking errors in the game. The Panthers made another run of seven straight points later in the frame and took a 2-0 lead after a 25-10 victory.
Ursuline controlled the opening of the third set, building a 10-7 lead. A ball handling error tied the set while Brouillette gave the Panthers the lead with a kill. The Arrows would not go away tying the set at 19, but the Panthers tallied the next four points, as
Lydia Jackson's ace established a 23-19 lead. Wesleyan ended the match with a 25-23 win of the third set.
Gallois finished with eight kills while
Sierra Morrow added six. Jackson set-up the offense with 21 assists.
