Panther Basketball Opens Home G-MAC Play with Two Promo Nights

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The men's and women's basketball teams of Kentucky Wesleyan College host their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference games this week, with YMCA night and Boys and Girls Club Day.  The men are riding a ten-game winning-streak, and a 37 home-game winning streak.  The women have a chance to make history by tying the G-MAC 12-game winning streak set by Ursuline last year, who they will face on Thursday.

On Thursday, Jan. 12, the women will host Ursuline, while the men take on Auburn-Montgomery during YMCA Night.  Members will receive free general admission with their YMCA key tag ID at the ticket gate.  Any child eighth-grade and under will also receive free general admission during.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm for the women, and 7:45 pm for the men.

The Owensboro Family YMCA has been part of the community for 121 consecutive years.  The YMCA is the largest provider of childcare in the nation, serving over 600 children in its Summer Day Camp and hundreds of children throughout the year in Holiday Camps in Owensboro. 

On Saturday, Jan. 14, Kentucky Wesleyan hosts new G-MAC member Malone during Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club Day, sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings.  Boys and Girls Club Volunteers, staff and kids can receive free general admission tickets by visiting the Mike Horn Unit location.  Any child eighth-grade and under will receive free general admission as well.  The women will play at 1 pm followed by the men at 3:15 pm.

Buffalo Wild Wings and the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club team up annually to support nearly 2,500 youth ages 18 and under.  In 1967, the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club was established and will celebrate their 50th year in the Owensboro community. Its namesake, Cliff Hagan, was an outstanding basketball player from Owensboro, earning All-American status at the University of Kentucky in the 1950's.  He enjoyed a stellar NBA career and was later enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
