Kentucky Wesleyan dropped its first conference match of the year in Vienna, W.Va. to Ohio Valley 3-0 on Thursday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers are now 0-3, (0-1, G-MAC) this year.
Ohio Valley struck first late in the first half with a goal in the 41st minute of play off a put-back from a shot that landed off the post to take the early 1-0 lead.
The Fighting Scots scored again midway through the second half at the 67:15 minute mark of play to give OVU a two goal cushion. Later on in the half, the Fighting Scots would score yet again in the 71st minute off of a loose ball inside the Panthers' box to grab a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Kentucky Wesleyan accumulated six shots in the contest, with three shots on-goal. Arthur Rogers, Blake Cobb, and Kurtis Roberts each had a shot on-goal in the match.
Goalie Grant Allen tallied up six saves. The Panthers' defense faced a total of 20 shots throughout the course of the match.
Kentucky Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Cedarville for their second conference match of the year. The match is set for a 6:00 CT start.
