Women’s soccer falls 2-0 at home against D&E

Kentucky Wesleyan was unable to carry off their momentum from their past two matches, and fell 2-0 against Davis & Elkins on Thursday evening at Steele Stadium in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers are now 2-3 (2-1-1 G-MAC) on the year.

The first goal of the match came in the third minute, as D&E caught a break-away off a pass which led to a goal for a 1-0 advantage. In the 18th minute, the Senators would add their second goal of the contest off of a throw in, and shot into the upper left part of the goal.

Kentucky Wesleyan finished the match with 11 shots, but were unable to break even. The Senators played the final 20 minutes of the match with a man-down, after recording a red card.

The Panthers went into an aggressive attack mode late, and found several shots on-goal. Penni Pluimer led the Panthers with a team-high three shots on-goal. KWC posted six shots on-goal in the match. Skylar Walden, Kamryn Pulliam, and Kaley Burnette each had a shot on-goal in the match too. Burnette had a penalty kick in the first half for a chance to tie the match, but her shot was blocked.

Goalkeeper Taylor Rentchler notched four saves.

Kentucky Wesleyan will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. against G-MAC opponent Alderson Broaddus. The match will be played at Panther Field.
