Soccer opens 2016 season at home on Thursday against USI

OWENSBORO, Ky- The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team will begin their 2016 season on Thursday night at 7 pm at Steele Stadium against Southern Indiana. The Panthers finished the 2015 campaign with a 2-13-1 record. KWC played USI last season in their season opener, but lost 3-2 in double overtime.

The Panthers will have a new look in 2016, as several new players will see time out on the field. Head coach John Fusco signed nine new players for the upcoming season. KWC also returns G-MAC second team honorees Blake Cobb and Kurtis Roberts, along with Nikos Agisilaou, who suffered a season-ending injury last year.

Coach Fusco discussed what will be the biggest key for the Panthers' upcoming season: "Besides trying to keep everyone healthy throughout the year, it's really going to be about getting our midfield going and controlling the field. We've brought in two really good midfielders, along with five returning seniors, so we feel good about this upcoming year."

USI finished last season going 8-7-3.
