Women’s basketball improves to 7-1 after dominating Fisk, 70-45

Kentucky Wesleyan cruised past Fisk on Monday evening at the Sportscenter, 70-45 for their seventh straight victory. The Panthers never trailed in the contest, and also improve to a perfect 5-0 in home games this year. KWC is 7-1 this year, and will play three more non-conference opponents before the New Year.

How it happened
Kentucky Wesleyan dominated the first quarter as they opened out to an 11-2 lead. KWC held Fisk scoreless from the field in the first 11 minutes of the game. The Panthers led 15-7 after the first.

Defense was a major factor in the Panthers' second quarter burst for 25 points. Kentucky Wesleyan forced several turnovers on the Bulldogs, which led to easy baskets in transition.

A 17-10 run to begin the second pushed the lead out to 15, at 32-17 after Keelie Lamb sank two free throws.

The Panthers scored the final seven points of the half, after Emma Wolfe scored five straight points, and Bria Wright converted on layup inside the paint. KWC led 40-23 at halftime.

The lead continued to increase in the second half, as Fisk had all the trouble in the world trying to get good looks at the basket.

Brittany Wells and Sydney Morabito scored the first 10 points of the third for the Panthers' offense as KWC led 50-29.

Morabito tallied eight points in the quarter, and the Panthers had the game all but wrapped up after three, leading 56-34.

The largest lead of the game reached 30 points in the fourth quarter, after KWC started the quarter on an 8-0 run.
