Women’s soccer shuts out Cedarville 3-0 on Senior Night

Kentucky Wesleyan came away with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cedarville on Thursday evening at Steele Stadium in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers scored two goals in the first half, and added one insurance goal early in the second half of action. With the win, Kentucky Wesleyan has now won three consecutive matches. The Panthers also improve their overall record on the season to 6-7-2, (5-5-2 G-MAC). Senior's Natalie Hobgood, Ellen Tichenor, and Penni Pluimer were recognzied at halftime in tonight's win.

KWC scored its first goal of the contest at the 6:02 mark of play. Skylar Walden scored the goal on a header, from a free kick from Kaley Burnette.

The Panthers would continue to control the match, and scored another goal in the half. At the 35:50 mark Kelsey Humphries found Madallyn Peveler down field, who chipped in a shot over the keeper for a 2-0 advantage.

Early on in the second half, Kentucky Wesleyan would score its third goal of the match. Kamryn Pulliam blasted a pass deep down field to Breigh Haase, who was able to maneuver to the ball and bring home a goal.

The Panthers finished the night with nine shots, five of which landed on-goal. Haase posted three total shots, and a team-high two shots on-goal. Taylor Rentchler registered four saves at goalie in the victory.

Kentucky Wesleyan will play again at home on Saturday at 2:30 against G-MAC foe Ohio Valley. The game will be played at Panther Field.
