Women’s soccer bounces back with 2-1 victory at Alderson Broaddus

Kentucky Wesleyan scored twice in the first half to defeat Alderson Broaddus 2-1 on Thursday evening in Philippi, W.Va. in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Panthers fell in double overtime in Owensboro in the first meeting between the two squads. With the win, KWC improves to 4-7-2, (3-5-2 G-MAC) on the season.

Breigh Haase scored the first goal of the contest in the second minute of action. Haase's goal was her third of the season. Later on in the half, Madison Haycraft added the second score of the match in the 15th minute of action off of a header. Haycraft has scored two goals this year, both off of headers.

The Battlers scored with under 30 seconds left to get on the board and cut the deficit down to 2-1. The Panthers' defense held off a late charge from the Battlers as they tried to even the match up.

Alderson Broaddus out-shot Kentucky Wesleyan 15-10, but the Panthers posted eight shots on-goal. Madison Haycraft finished with a team-high four shots, three of which landed on-goal. Haase also tallied three shots on-goal in the contest.

The Panthers will stay in West Virginia, and will take on Davis & Elkins on Saturday. The match is set for an 11 a.m. CT start.
