Box Score The score was tied for 70 minutes until Southern Indiana netted a late goal and Kentucky Wesleyan couldn't capitalize on several late chances, losing 1-0 in the Lane Goodwin Foundation Game at Steele Stadium.
"It was a super hard fought game," said head coach
John Fusco after the contest. "Both teams fought really hard. Had a lot of positive things come out of this one. (Our guys) came out and put in a work load and that's what we asked them to do before the game. They did a great job working hard for 90 minutes."
Grant Allen played a fine game in net, allowing the one goal, but also making five saves in the process. KWC was outshot for the game, 14-8, and they had fewer corner kicks, 8-6.
When asked how he would prepare his team for Bellarmine, Fusco responded: "We are going to do a lot of what we did tonight. We are going to take the hard work from tonight and build off what we did. We had three or four really good chances; we just have to put them in the back of the net."
The Panthers continue their season on Tues., Sept. 9, in Louisville against Bellarmine.
