Still searching for their first win and first goal of the season, the Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team plays twice this week hoping to start the conference season off right.
Tonight, KWC faces off against Cumberland (Tenn.) in their final home game this month and then travels to Ohio on Saturday for a match with Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason favorite Cedarville.
"We are looking to get that first win under our belt," said head coach
John Fusco. "We have been working on trying to score goals and on our defensive rotations in practice trying to get ready for both games."
Kurtis Roberts leads the Panthers in shot attempts with five and
Grant Allen has played the majority of minutes in goal, making 14 saves this season.
Cumberland enters tonight's match with a record of 1-3-1 overall. Marty Owens has scored three goals to lead the way and Ian Hamilton has played every minute in goal making 32 saves.
Cedarville has a record of 2-1-1 overall. They are led by three players, Joel Twinem, Connor Gilmour and Zachary Harris with two goals each and Paulo Pinto has played the majority of the minutes in goal making seven saves.
When asked about Cedarville, coach Fusco replied: "We are preparing like we prepare for any other game. We are working on transition from defense to attack. It's good to come out in the first conference game and set the tone."
