Jordanne Gambill came off the bench to lead five scorers in double-figures with 14 points as Kentucky Wesleyan ran past host Alderson Broaddus 74-61 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action at Rex Pyles Arena in Philipi, WVa., on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers jumped ouit to a 13-point lead, 18-to-5, at the 10:15 mark in the first half when
T'Essence Phelps scored on an old fashion three-pointer with a fast break layup where she was fouled and made the free throw.
KWC's lead see-sawed between the 8 and 10-point advantage until 16 second left in the half where Phelps connected her only three-pointer of the day for the 16-point halftime lead at 35-16.
Karly Rhoads opened the second-half with a three-pointer to give the Purple and White's their biggest lead at 38-19.
Alderson Broaddus ( 3-21, 3-11) clawed their back to come within six points with 11:04 remaining at 46-48.
Kourtney Rhoads was fouled on a three-point attempt on the next possession to score three free throws and
Jade Mills-Harris grabbed a steal and went in on a fast break layup to extend the lead back to 11 a minute later and the Battlers could not get closer.
Joining Gambill in double-firgures were Phelps,
Karly Rhoads,
Kourtney Rhoads and
Shelbi Tyra, all with 12 points. Mills-Harris also came off the bench for nine points.
Phelps also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and
Karly Rhoads handed out a game-high five assists. Gambill and Mills-Harris each created three steals.
KWC finished 23-of-49 from the floor (47 percent), made 23-of-33 free throws (70 percent), and went 5-of-15 from 3-point range (33 percent).
Alderson-Broaddus (3-21, 3-11) was led by Rachel Ashley's game-high 18 points. Sydney Shaffer added 15.
The Panthers (16-8, 11-4 G-MAC) host G-MAC foe Ursuline on Thursday at the Owensboro Sportscenter starting at 5:30 CT.
