The Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team earned its second win of the season Tuesday afternoon with a 6-2 victory at home over St. Catharine. The Panthers improved to 2-4-1 on the season with the win.
Freshman
Kurtis Roberts put the Panthers on the board four minutes into play on an assist from sophomore
Nikos Agisilaou.
Junior
Christakis Agisilaou extended the KWC in the 16th minute after beating his defender one-on-one and putting the ball past goalkeeper CJ Powell.
The Patriots cut the KWC lead in half when Ashley Woods found the back of the net on a cross from Joseph Creg.
Four minutes into the second half the Panthers lead moved back to two when junior
Ryan Brewer scored his second goal of the season.
C. Agisilaou earned his second goal of the afternoon after putting the ball over the head of the St. Catharine keeper.
The Panthers went ahead 5-1 on a penalty kick by junior
Gary McMeekin in the 57th minutes of play.
Woods scored again for St. Catharine on a cross by Abdikadir Mohamed with 20 minutes remaining in the game.
Sophomore
Cody Leffert sealed the win for the Panthers with less than two minutes remaining on an assist from McMeekin.
KWC outshot the Patriots 17-10, while St. Catharine had the 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 at noon against G-MAC opponent Trevecca Nazarene.
