Kentucky Wesleyan dropped to 0-2 with a 39-20 loss to Lindsey Wilson Saturday night at Steele Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (3-0) used a 21-point second quarter to take a 27-14 lead into halftime and never looked back, holding the Panthers to just six second-half points.
Lindsey Wilson quarterback Brandon Cresap took apart the KWC defense, going 20-of-41 passing for 303 yards and five touchdowns.
KWC briefly held a 7-6 lead in the first quarter after three-yard touchdown pass from Dalton Oliver to Keelan Cole, but it was short-lived.
Lindsey Wilson scored with just under 11 minutes to play, then scored again three minutes later to jump ahead 20-7. both of those scores came from touchdown passes from Cresap.
Oliver converted a 14-yard pass to Jeff Ward for a score to make it 20-14, but the Blue Raiders responded by scoring three minutes later to maintain a comfortable 27-14 lead at halftime.
A 32-yard touchdown pass from Cresap to Tavis Elzy made it a 34-14 game with just over a minute left in the third quarter.
Oliver responded with another touchdown pass, his third of the game, to Cole to make it 34-20 early in the fourth quarter, but Nathan Ballinger fumbled on the point after and Lindsey Wilson returned it for two points.
To go along with the three touchdowns, Oliver finished 27-of-48 passing for 303 yards and two interceptions. Devin Le'Gall rushed 17 times for 126 yards. Ward caught 14 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Lindsey Wilson outgained KWC on offense, 470 yards to 432, and outgained the Panthers on the ground, 176-129.
KWC travels to Lindenwood-Belleville next Saturday.
