Meeting St. Catharine for the first time in program history the Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team won comfortably 91-53. The Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

KWC went ahead 4-0 to start the game on two free throw attempts by junior Jordanne Gambill and a layup by senior Shelbi Tyra.

The Patriots cut the Panthers lead in half on a jumper at the 18:52 mark.

The Panthers scored the next five points to build a seven point advantage, following a jumper by Gambill and a three by Tyra.

St. Catharine pulled back within two of KWC after a jumper and a three of its own.

KWC took its first double digit lead with 11 minutes remaining in the half on a jumper by Tyra, putting the score at 26-16.

The Patriots cut the Panthers lead to six following two layups, but St. Catharine's was unable to get any closer the remainder of the game.

Senior Karly Rhoads gave KWC its largest lead of the first half with just under 29 seconds remaining after converting on a jumper to make it a 47-28 game.

The Panthers went into halftime leading 47-30 after shooting 47% from the field and 73% from the free throw line.

Tyra scored the first four points of the second half to give KWC the 51-30 advantage.

Brooke Gee stopped the KWC run by hitting a jumper with 18:24 remaining in the game.

St. Catharine kept the Panthers lead under 20 points until the 16:42 mark when Tyra made a layup to give KWC the 55-34 edge.

The Panthers built a 30 point advantage following a layup by senior Kourtney Rhoads at the 7:07 mark to put the score at 73-43.

Freshman Asia Coates scored the final bucket of the game to give KWC the 91-53 victory.

Gambill finished the game with a team high 16 points, while also recording two steals. Ko. Rhoads, Ka. Rhoads and sophomore Jade Mills-Harris each had two steals on the evening. Senior T'Essence Phelps grabbed 11 rebounds and Ka. Rhoads had five assists.

The Panthers finished the game shooting 43% from the floor and 74% from the stripe.

KWC plays its first road game of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Oakland City. Game time is set for 7 p.m. CT.
