Saint Joseph's handled Kentucky Wesleyan College 35-9 on Saturday in Rensselaer, Ind. The game was called with 10:40 left in the third quarter because of storms.
The Panthers scored just before the game was stopped on a 79-yard punt return by Jeff Ward. KWC also got a 34-yard field goal by Nathan Ballinger.
There were few other offensive highlights for KWC, which fell to 0-5 and lose its first Great Lakes Valley Conference game of the season. St. Joe's is 4-1 and won its GLVC opener.
The Panthers managed 42 yards in total offense and struggled on the ground to negative-21 rushing yards.
St. Joe's had a pair of 100-yard rushers as it went for 299 yards on the ground. Braxton Shelton had 122 yards on 18 carries and scored a 13-yard touchdown run. Kobi Cook had 103 yards on 15 carries and ran for a 13-yard touchdown.
The Panthers will be back in action this Saturday when Missouri S&T visits Steele Stadium for homecoming at 3 p.m.
