Christakis Agisilaou and brother sophomore
Nikos Agisilaou helped guide the Kentucky Wesleyan men's soccer team to its first G-MAC win, beating Alderson Broaddus 4-2 Saturday afternoon in Philippi, W. Va. The Panthers improve to 3-6-2 on the season and to 1-3 in conference play.
The Battlers jumped ahead 1-0 in the 11th minute on a goal by Sat Dhaliwal.
Junior
Ryan Brewer tied the game at one all after 20 minutes of play.
Kentucky Wesleyan took the lead in the 27th minute when C. Agisilaou found the back of the net, for his seventh goal of the season.
The Panthers had the slight 9-8 advantage over Alderson Broaddus in shots after 45 minutes of play, but the Battlers had the 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Jose Noriega tied the score less than five minutes into the start of the second half.
N. Agisilaou put the Panthers back ahead in the 54th minute when he knocked the ball past the Battlers goalkeeper on an assist from freshman
Blake Cobb.
Three minutes later C. Agisilaou scored the final goal of the game on an assist from his brother N. Agisilaou.
Sophomore
Travis Rowland posted three saves for the Panthers.
KWC had 14 shots and three corner kicks in the win, while Alderson Broaddus posted 15 shots and nine corner kicks.
Next up for the Panthers is a home game versus Salem International on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Steele Stadium.
