Game Notes
The Kentucky Wesleyan College football team looked like the walking wounded when after its matchup with Missouri S&T last week.
Injuries took a toll on that road trip, and it may have a lasting effect today.
Quarterback
Will Barnes, who didn't play in the second half last week, will be a game-time decision against McKendree (0-4), who the Panthers (1-3) host at 6 p.m. at Steele Stadium.
"He took a pretty good shot," said KWC coach
Brent Holsclaw of the hit that sidelined Barnes. "We will make a decision at kickoff whether or not to play Will."
If Barnes doesn't play, the starting duties could fall to backups
Logan Pemberton or Kemota Jackson. Jackson, a 6-foot, 180-pound senior, took over at quarterback last week.
"We put Kemota in with the 'Wildcat' stuff," Holsclaw said.
KWC may start that way against McKendree.
"They're like us. They've played a quality strength of schedule," Holsclaw said.
KWC is looking for more consistency throughout the game.
"If you look at our games, we've played good football, and then you sprinkle in some little lulls," Holsclaw said. "Last week the lull was the first 10 minutes, then we played well. At William Jewell we didn't play well in the third quarter.
"We have to eliminate those little lulls. In practice we have days where go into a funk. We've had a fairly consistent week of practice."
