Game Notes
Kentucky Wesleyan just missed earning its second win of the season last week against William Jewell. The Panthers now face an even tougher task doing so this week on the road against undefeated Missouri S&T.
The Panthers will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Miners.
The Miners enter the game boasting a 3-0 record and have outscored opponents 113-33. KWC, which dropped to 1-2 with the loss last week, have scored just 49 points this season.
The Panthers will face a Missouri S&T team that ranks in the Top 10 nationally in four different categories, led by a third-place ranking in pass efficiency defense.
The Miners have intercepted eight passes thus far in the 2012 season and have allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete only 45.7 percent of their passes. KWC quarterback
Will Barnes threw his first interceptions of the season last week, but will still give the Miner secondary some trouble. He's thrown for 598 yards and five touchdowns, with three interceptions.
Defensive backs Billy Foster and Naeem Forrester are tied for 19th in the nation with two interceptions apiece and figure to give Barnes the most trouble.
Missouri S&T also ranks seventh in scoring defense and turnover margin as well as ninth in total defense. Individually, wide receiver Smook Thomas is tied for third with 9.3 receptions per game and 13th in reception yards per game, while Carlton Westbrook is tied for fifth in punt return average.
The Panthers are looking to avenge a 52-28 loss to Missouri S&T last season. A win Saturday would eclipse the Panthers' win total from the 2011 season.
