Kentucky Wesleyan split a volleyball doubleheader on Saturday losing to Great Lakes Valley Conference foe McKendree (3-2) and sweeping cross-town rival Brescia (3-0) at Jones Gymnasium in Owensboro.
 
The Panthers jumped out to a two-set lead, 25-22 and 25-18, over McKendree before the Bearcats (5-5, 1-1 GLVC) came back to take the final three sets, 25-19, 25-21 and 18-16 to foil KWC bid for the first GLVC win of the season.
 
Ashley Smith led KWC with 18 kills and a .457 hitting percentage plus three blocks. 
Bridget Johnson had 12 kills and 
Chelsea Brothers added 10 plus five blocks including two solos.
 
Linda Albrecht produced 49 assists with one ace and seven digs. 
Rae Garvison had a team-high three aces along with nine digs. 
Morgan Watson led the defensive effort with 19 digs and 
Jordan Rickert had 10.
 
In the night cap, the Panthers dominated Brescia 25-15, 25-20 and 25-17.
 
Garvinson recorded a game-high 13 kills and a .600 attack percentage while Brothers had 10 kills. 
MaryBeth Ryan had three blocks and four kills with a .667 hitting percentage. Eric Gallois came off the bench for two blocks and two kills.
 
Albrecht posted 25 assists, one ace and one block. 
Hannah Hudnall collected 16 digs and Rickert had seven.
 
The Panthers (4-8, 0-2) play at Southern Indiana on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
