Game Notes
This season has surely not gone how Kentucky Wesleyan coach Brent Holsclaw planned. But if history is on the Panthers' side, Saturday's game could offer a sliver or success.
KWC (2-7, 0-6) owns a 5-2 all-time advantage over Saturday's oppent, Quincy (1-8, 1-5), and has won the previous three meetings. Moreover, the Panthers have won all four meetings in Quincy, where the two teams will square off at 1 p.m.
It's a matchup of the two worst statistical offenses in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers rank eighth in scoring offense with Quincy ninth, while Quincy ranks eighth in total offense with KWC ninth
The teams are fairly even individually, as well, with the only true gap coming at the quarterback position.
Quarterback Will Barnes has thrown for more than double the yards that Quincy quarterback Nick Lonergan has this season, to go along with four more touchdown passes.
A big key will be KWC's defense, which ranks last in the GLVC, stepping up to make plays against the Quincy offense. The Panthers allow 439 yards of total offense a game compared to 387 for the Hawks.
The Panthers have scored 25 more points this season than Quincy, but also allowed 35 more points on defense. One play could make the difference in this game.
