Adam Akin enters his fifth season at Kentucky Wesleyan College as an assistant baseball coach in 2015-16.
He started his coaching career at Rend Lake (Jr.) College in Ina, Ill., where he served as an assistant in 2011 after a stellar three-year playing career at second base and shortstop for the University of Indianapolis.
The Evansville, Ind. native ended his Greyhound career ranked in the Top 10 in eight offensive categories.
He finished third in runs scored (138); fourth in base-on-balls (91); fifth in doubles (34), triples (nine) and at bats (590); sixth in hits (188) and total bases (261); and eighth in RBIs (106). Akin posted a .319 plate average.
As a senior he led the nation in sacrifice bunts with 20 and finished second as a junior with 22. He recorded a .345 batting average and knocked in 35 RBIs in starting 53 of 54 games as a senior.
Akin also earned Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010
He helped the Greyhounds to a three-year combined 115-64 record with three GLVC tournaments trips and two NCAA appearances for head coach Gary Vaught.
Akin played his freshman season at Rend Lake as he started all 52 games and posted a .311 batting average.
During his days at North High School, Akin twice received first team All-Metro honors by the Evansville Courier and Press and first team all-conference as a senior. He helped lead the Huskies to the 4A state finals as a junior.
Akin graduated from Indianapolis with a bachelors degree in sports management in 2010 and a masters in sports administration from Liberty University in 2013..
