Diana Hunter enters her seventh season as the head women's tennis coach to her alma mater Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2021-22.
"As a long-time coach and educator in Owensboro, Diana has an outstanding reputation for mentoring students and preparing them for success in all aspects of life."
Before coming to Kentucky Wesleyan, Hunter spent 10 seasons as the Red Devils girls coach. She also served as the boys coach for four years. Her teams each won a women's and a men's regional championship.
"This opportunity to return to my alma mater means I have come full-circle," Hunter stated. "This is the place where I started as a student-athlete and now returning home as the head coach.
"I will take my experiences and pass it on to our tennis scholar-athletes. I want to better their skill set in tennis but at the same time help them become successful students and adults just like Kentucky Wesleyan College did for me many years ago."
"As an alumnae and former four-sport athlete at Kentucky Wesleyan, Diana understands the rich and unique tradition of Panther athletics and will serve as a tremendous example for our tennis scholar-athletes," said former AD Rob Mallery.
Hunter started for four years on the basketball and softball teams plus two seasons on the tennis and volleyball squads.
She graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Hunter earned her masters of arts in guidance counseling from Western Kentucky University in 1996 and her Rank I in 1997.
