Rusty Elmore enters his second season as assistant men's coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2016-17.
He comes from Union (Ky.) College where he was the head men's assistant coach in 2014-15,
The Bulldogs finished 30-5 and a trip to the NAIA Division II Championship second round. They also won the Applachain Athletic Conference regular season (17-1) and tournament Championship.
Prior to Union, he served as assistant coach from 2011-14 for the men's basketball program at Lindsey Wilson College.
While in Columbia, the Blue Raiders were one of the more successful programs in all of NAIA Division I, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Semifinals in 2013, on their way to a No. 3 ranking in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll.
With Elmore on staff, LWC won back-to-back Mid-South Conference Regular Season titles (2012 and 2013) and the tournament championship in 2013, as the program made two straight appearances at the NAIA Division I National Championship from 2012-13. In all, Elmore coached seven NABC Academic All-Americans at Lindsey Wilson, along with two NAIA All-Americans.Â
Prior to getting into coaching, Elmore worked for eight years as media executive with WGN-TV in Chicago, the Chicago White Sox Radio Network, ABC Asheville, and NBC Atlanta 11Alive.
Elmore earned a bachelors degree from Middle Tennessee State in Liberal Arts, then earned a masters of sports administration from Western Kentucky University.
He is married to the former Katie Sheahan of Milwaukee, Wis.. and the couple has one child, Elise.
