OWENSBORO, Ky. – Jacob Riegel has been named the Great Midwest Baseball South Division Player of the Week for his performance in Wesleyan's series win over Ohio Dominican.
Riegel went 9-13 with one double, one triple, two home runs, eight RBIs, and five walks (reached base in 14 plate appearances) to lead the Panthers to a 3-1 weekend versus ODU.
The junior's best performance came in Wesleyan's series-opening victory, in which he recorded a double and hit two home runs in the same game to power KWC to a 16-3 win.
In total this season, Riegel is hitting .288 with six doubles, a team-high three triples, eight home runs, 30 RBIs, 27 walks, and a .969 OPS in 46 games. The infielder is in the top 10 in the G-MAC in triples and home runs.
Riegel becomes the sixth KWC baseball honoree this season, joining Evan Oakley three times and Liam Hutson twice.
Riegel and the Panthers are next headed to North Canton, Ohio, for a four-game set against Walsh to close out the regular season. The action is set to begin on Thursday, April 31, at 12:00 PM and all four games will be streamed live on FloCollege.
