OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan softball team fell in both games of their doubleheader versus Tiffin on Saturday.
The Panthers stayed in the mix in game one, trailing just 2-0 after the fifth against one of the G-MAC's top teams. Wesleyan threatened in the bottom of the fourth after Riley Cunningham roped a double and Kennedy Matheis was hit by a pitch, but the Panthers were unable to get a run across the plate.
The Dragons broke the game open with five runs in the fifth and ultimately prevailed 7-0 in the day's first game. Cunningham and Matheis each had a hit to account for Wesleyan's two hits.
Tiffin brought their offensive momentum from that fifth inning to game two. TU scored seven runs in the first and five in the second to grab complete control in their eventual 13-1 win.
The Panthers lone run came in the bottom of the fifth. Cami Cox reached on an error and Chloe Apple singled up the middle to put two on with just one out. Both advanced on a wild pitch before Paige Crain singled to center field, driving in Cox and putting a run on the board for KWC.
Wesleyan is right back to it tomorrow, Sunday, April 12th against the Findlay Oilers at Foster Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12:00 PM and the games will be streamed live on FloCollege.
