Panthers Never Trail in Revenge Triumph Over Hillsdale

Drew Cooper tallies his 100th win at Kentucky Wesleyan

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team earned their revenge for last Saturday's loss with a dominating 79-58 triumph over the Hilldale Chargers on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers improved to 17-5 overall and 10-5 in the G-MAC, while Hillsdale fell to 16-7 overall and 11-3 in the G-MAC.

The win is head coach Drew Cooper's 100th at the helm of Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball.

Wesleyan never trailed in the game, scoring the first five points and never looking back. The Panthers maintained a similar lead for the majority of the half until back-to-back three-pointers from Terrence Ringo Jr. and Logan McIntire put Wesleyan up 29-18 with just over six minutes to play.

The Panthers continued to control the tempo in an impressive way, holding on to their double-digit lead at the half at 36-26.

Hillsdale came within six coming out of the half at 37-31, but that was as close as the road team would get. With Wesleyan leading 43-35, they reeled off a 15-5 run, featuring a three-pointer from Edward Jones Jr. and two buckets from Kennedy Miles, to take a commanding 58-40 advantage.

The Panthers really impressed from start-to-finish, leading by as much as 22 over one of the best teams in the G-MAC and winning by a final tally of 79-58.

Jones Jr. had a fantastic game, scoring 25 points on 9-12 shooting and 3-4 from deep while grabbing five rebounds, blocking two shots, and earning two steals.

The other three double-digit scorers for Wesleyan were Kennedy Miles (14 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals), Logan McIntire (11 points and four rebounds), and Alex Gray (11 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe).

Wesleyan is next on the road this Thursday, February 13, in Midland, Michigan, against the Northwood Timberwolves. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM, with the women preceding at 5:00 PM.
