Panthers Secures Dominant Win Over Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA. - In a display of skill and timely hitting, the Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team rolled over the Augusta University with a decisive 14-4 victory in their non-conference clash at Jaguar Field on Saturday. The Panthers last started a season with back-to-back wins in 2016 where they swept Lane in a three-game series.

The Panthers, demonstrating a powerful offense and solid pitching, came from behind to capture the win. Wesleyan trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth. Rhett Dysholm hit a momentum-shifting two-run homer in the fourth inning. Cade Gudalis, with a standout performance going three for four including two doubles and four RBIs, were instrumental in the victory. His first double broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth. He then gave the Panthers the lead for good (6-4) with a two-run double in the eighth.

Starting pitcher Isaac Rose delivered a commendable performance, pitching 6.1 innings and striking out five, though he left with a no-decision. Relief pitcher Sam McFarland shone brightly as he clinched the win with 2.2 innings of effective relief.

The game was tightly contested until the ninth inning when Kentucky Wesleyan unleashed an eight-run barrage to seal the game. This offensive explosion was highlighted by Braxton French's RBI double, which sparked the rally, and capped by Logan Molnar's two-run single. Additional support came from Braden Vinyard who knocked a two-run double and ended the game three for four.

With this win, the Panthers improve their season record to 2-0, contrasting sharply with Augusta's 1-6. The teams are set to conclude their three-game series at Jaguar Field, with the next game scheduled for Sunday morning. The first pitch is set for 11 AM CT, where the Panthers aim to continue their hot start and sweep the series against the Jaguars.
