Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's and women's basketball teams return home this week, set to host Tiffin on Thursday night (5:30/7:45) and Hillsdale on Saturday afternoon (12:00/2:15).
The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team went 1-1 last week, defeating Thomas More by the score of 70-62 on Wednesday night before falling 93-89 in an overtime thriller to Hillsdale on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers now sit in third place among the 12 G-MAC teams at 15-5 overall and 9-3 in the conference
Edward Jones Jr. had a big-time week, averaging 21.0 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field across the two contests. The senior set his career-high with 26 points, including three dunks, in the win over the Saints.
The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team also split last week, defeating Thomas More 66-63 before suffering defeat to Hillsdale. The Panthers are still in the middle of the pack in the G-MAC, currently in sixth out of the 13 teams at 10-8 (6-7 G-MAC).
Junior Riley Neal had another strong stretch, averaging 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the two-game set.
About Tiffin Basketball
The Tiffin men's basketball team has struggled this season, currently 5-15 overall and 3-9 in the G-MAC. The Dragons split their two home games last week, first defeating Ohio Dominican on Thursday night before losing a close battle to Malone on Saturday afternoon. Tiffin is led by the duo of senior forward Dekyre Fuller (11.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% from the floor) and senior guard Allen Forham (11.1 points and 3.6 rebounds).
The Tiffin women's basketball team has experienced similar struggles, sitting at 7-14 overall and 2-11 in the conference. The Dragons have lost three straight, including losses to Northwood and Malone last week. They're also led by a duo, but instead of two seniors, it's two freshmen: Guard Lyv Lindeman is averaging 11.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game with over 100 free throw attempts on the year (80% from the line) and guard Megan Campbell is averaging 11.0 points and 5.5 rebounds with a team-high 32 three-pointers.
About Hillsdale Basketball
The Hillsdale men's basketball team is second in the G-MAC at 16-5 overall and 10-3 in conference play, having narrowly downed Wesleyan on Saturday in Hillsdale. Senior Joe Reuter was a problem in that game, stuffing the stat sheet with 18 points on 7-11 shooting to go along with nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocked shots. The Panthers will look to contain the forward and get their revenge in what is primed to be one of the biggest games left on their schedule.
The Hillsdale women's basketball team has had a very successful year as well, currently in third in the G-MAC at 14-6 overall and 11-2 in the conference. Facing the winners of three straight and 11 of their last 12, the Panthers will attempt to slow down the Chargers and get back in the winning column.
Tickets for both doubleheaders can be purchased at owensborotickets.com and will be broadcast on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
