Panthers Fall To Timberwolves

MIDLAND, MI – Wesleyan women's hoops (12-9, GMAC 8-8) picked up a tough 73-63 loss on the road in Michigan to Northwood University (12-11, GMAC 10-5) on Thursday evening. Shiya Hoosier seems back to her normal self as she recorded a team-high 33 minutes tonight along with 13 points.

The Panthers were on an absolute heater in the first four minutes of the contest as they raced to a 13-4 lead. The Timberwolves responded with back-to-back threes. Wesleyan led 19-17 at the end of the first quarter.

Hoosier got the Panthers started in the second quarter with a layup, which was then followed up by a Carson Sisk triple on the following possession. After Northwood hit a three at the 4:50 mark to go up one, Emma Bruwer answered with a triple of her own to regain the lead. The Timberwolves drew a foul at the halftime buzzer and converted both to take the lead 37-35.

Northwood began the second half on an 8-0 that was finally put to a stop by a Riley Neal layup. The Timberwolves continued to succeed through the third as they won the quarter 17-10.

Sydnee Richetto came alive in the fourth, scoring seven points within the first two minutes of the quarter. Hoosier sunk a three with 58 seconds remaining to bring the game within seven, yet Northwood extended the final score to ten with free throws.

Neal continues to score efficiently in the paint, recording 16 points and six rebounds. Richetto finished with 11 points.

Wesleyan will continue their road trip on to Findlay, Ohio to take on the Oilers on Saturday at 12 p.m.
