OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team downed Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 80-59 on Wednesday evening to move to 2-1 on the season.
The Pomeroys stayed competitive during the early going, down just six at 21-15 with under 14 minutes to go in the first half. Wesleyan then reeled off a 10-0 run, highlighted by five points from Ke'Andre Jones, and never looked back.
The Panthers led 45-30 at the break after LaVonte Harris hit a three-pointer to cap off the first 20 minutes.
Wesleyan led by as much as 23 in the game, allowing the bench to get into the action late. In the last five minutes, Jordan Brown hit a jumper and made a layup, Gavin Reed sunk a free throw, and Briar Griffin earned an acrobatic bucket in the paint to cap off the win.
Harris impressed again with 19 points and four rebounds. Fatih Huyuk (14 points on 7-10 shooting) and Jones (11 points and five rebounds) joined Harris in double figures.
The Panthers are back inside the Sportscenter this Saturday, November 22, for a matchup versus Delta State. Tipoff is set for 12:30 PM and the game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
