Wesleyan Unable to Slay the Dragons

Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan football team battled for the full 60 minutes before ultimately falling 24-12 against Tiffin on Saturday.

Tiffin opened the game with an eight-play, 49-yard touchdown drive to grab an early 7-0 advantage.

Wesleyan's defense held strong the rest of the half, keeping the Dragons off the board entirely. The Panthers offense was able to feed off that momentum, mounting an eight-play, 84-yard drive that was capped off by a Justus Wertzler touchdown pass to Camron Brogan. That score pulled Wesleyan within one after a missed extra point try.

Tiffin never wavered, scoring back-to-back touchdowns in the first four minutes of the second half to put the game in their control.

The Panthers went down swinging. Wertzler connected with Josh Campbell Jr. for an 82-yard touchdown pass to make the score 24-12 with just 1:46 to go. Wesleyan got the ball back one more, but was unable to pull any closer.

Wertzler totaled career-highs in yards (276) and touchdown passes (2). Brogan recorded three receptions for 58 yards and a score, while Josh Campbell had just the one catch for 82 yards and a score.

Josh Noble continued dominating defensively, racking up 11 tackles and one tackle for loss after his career-high 15 tackles last week.

Wesleyan's road trip continues as the Panthers next head to Painesville, Ohio, for a matchup against Lake Erie on November 8. Kickoff is set for 11:00 AM and the game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
