Crestview Hills, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team took home the first set before ultimately falling 27-25, 17-25, 13-25, 12-25 against Thomas More Saturday afternoon.
Wesleyan trailed by as many as seven points in the opening set, but the Panthers clawed all the way back to within three at 24-21. Thomas More had several set-point chances, but KWC earned the next three points, all coming off attack errors, to tie the score at 24. After the Saints went back up with a kill, Kami Parlin landed a kill of her own to tie the set again before two more attack errors from Thomas More allowed Wesleyan to go up 1-0 in the match.
It was all Saints after that. Thomas More cleaned up the attack errors and comfortably prevailed in the following three sets to win the match 3-1.
Parlin led the charge with a season-high eleven kills on the afternoon. Ana De Sevilla-Acosta had 13 assists, Juliana Greaney tallied 12 assists, and Grace Carter had two aces.
Maddie Hanshew recorded a team-high seven digs, followed by Greaney with six and Tessa Jo-Allen with five. Greaney additionally notched a career-high four blocks on top of three by Gracie Newton.
Wesleyan now turns their attention to the Midwest Region Crossover from October 17-18 in Hammond, Indiana.
