"Trey impressed us throughout our interview process," said Vice President Shook. "He's had great experiences in the field during his time as both an undergraduate and graduate student at the University of Louisville. His most recent work in media relations with the Louisville Bats has only reinforced and added to those experiences. His maturity, demeanor, and work ethic will make him fit right in on our talented staff."
The Director of Strategic Communication and Fan Engagement absorbed the Sports Information Director position in January of 2024. Curry is the fourth person in Kentucky Wesleyan history to serve in that capacity.
"I am honored and excited to be named the next Director of Strategic Communications and Fan Engagement at Kentucky Wesleyan College," said Curry. "I want to thank Vice President Shook and Assistant Athletic Director Ken Badylak for trusting me in this role. I cannot wait to get to work with all the fantastic student-athletes and coaches at Wesleyan."
Curry comes to Wesleyan after spending this past summer as the Media Relations Associate with the Louisville Bats. Curry created and formatted detailed game notes for the Bats as well as conducted player interview and promotional highlights.
"Of all the areas in college athletics administration, this area (athletic communications, sports information, etc.) has changed the most in recent years," continued Vice President Shook. "Not only is the content (game stats, recaps, and box scores) still important but new graphics technologies, phone applications, livestreams, and social media have pushed us beyond in the expectations of our student-athletes, their families, our alumni and fans. We've eclipsed more than one million page views on our website each of the last two years and there is no sign that will slow down anytime soon."
In addition to his role with the Bats, Curry saw some overlap with his role as the Strategic Communications Graduate Assistant at the University of Louisville. Curry was with the Louisville Sports Information Department since August of 2022. Most recently, he developed comprehensive communication plans for volleyball, women's basketball, and women's tennis. In addition, he assisted with media obligations during football and men's basketball contests.
Curry holds two degrees from the University of Louisville. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Administration and he just completed work on his Master of Science degree in Sport Administration this summer.
A native of Hawesville, Kentucky, Curry and his fiancé now reside in Owensboro.
