OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball dropped a double-header to Tiffin University on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons took the day's opener 5-1 before dispatching the Panthers 6-1 in the finale.
Jules King flirted with no-hitter in the opener as the Panthers had one baserunner through the first six innings and no hits. The Dragons utilized a three-run homerun in the top of the first to build a 3-0 lead. They added a run in the third and fourth to hold a 5-0 lead in the final three innings.
With two-away in the bottom of the seventh,
Kristyn Murphy beat-up an infield grounder and advanced to second on a throwing error.
Guinny Garr followed with a single into right to drive-in the Panthers' lone run of the game.
Murphy went the distance, going seven innings, allowing five runs, on six hits with five strikeouts.
In game two,
Chloe Williams made short work of the Dragons in the first two innings, but in the third, Tiffin scored three times with two-outs. Two runs coming on a two-run homerun.
Grace Colvin knocked-in the lone run of the game for the Panthers.
Cam Mann had two hits in the game. The Panthers had chances to throughout to score but left eight runners on base.
Allie Dunn pitched the final two innings scoreless.
The Panthers will host their final two home games of the year on Sunday against Findlay. First pitch at Foster Field is scheduled for 12PM CT.
