OWENSBORO, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Tennis Team took down Franklin College on Saturday in a nail-biter, winning 4-3 over the visiting Grizzlies. On the women's side, the Panthers fell 4-3 in a tightly contested match.
On the men's side, Wesleyan got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to grab the coveted doubles point.
Marc Stoever and
Adryan Taylor picked up a 6-3 win at the No. 1 slot, while
Nick Stoever and
Jose Ferrandis won 7-6 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles. On the singles side,
Adryan Taylor, playing in the No. 2 slot, picked up a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win to grab a point.
Nick Stoever went the distance at No. 3 singles, winning 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.
Jose Ferrandis helped seal the deal, easily winning 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles slot.
The women came up just short in their match. The doubles point went to the Grizzlies, giving them a leg up early. Wesleyan got wins from
Sydney Tucker (7-5, 6-4) in the No. 2 singles spot,
Ella Brown (6-1, 6-1) in the No. 3 spot, and
Angela Ho (6-4, 7-6 (7-0)) at No. 4 singles.
Both the men's and women's tennis teams will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Knoxville, Tennessee, to take on Johnson University.
