OWENSBORO, KY. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team moved to .500 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Lake Erie College.
Chloe Williams pitched a complete game to earn her sixth win on the season as the Panthers won the opener 3-2. In game two the bats came alive in Wesleyan's 9-1 victory.
In the opener the Panthers (12-14, 3-3 GMAC) just needed one swing to take the lead.
Augusta Garr and
Megan Matheis each hit singles in the bottom of the first inning before
Kristyn Murphy emptied the bases with a homerun over the centerfield fence.
Williams took care of the rest as she completed seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned run with four strikeouts. The Storm (0-18, 0-4 GMAC) scored both runs in the top of the seventh before Williams shut the door.

Chloe Apple each finished the game two for three.
In game two, the Panthers plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Grace Colvin and
Lauren Pellerito each recorded RBI singles. Lake Erie scored a run in the top of the third to pull withing 4-1, but the Panthers responded with two more runs in the bottom half.
Megan Matheis connected with a hard-hit single into to right that scored Murphy and
Shelbi Patterson.
Pellerito drove-in two more runs in the fifth with a double that went all the way to the centerfield wall. The game ended one inning later as
Kennedy Matheis was hit with the bases loaded.
Allie Dunn picked-up the win with four innings or work, allowing one run on four hits. Murphy pitched the final two scoreless innings. She was also three for four with two runs scored at the plate.
The Panthers will continue their homestand with two more games on Sunday against Ursuline. First pitch at Foster Field is scheduled for 12 PM.
