Ashland, Ohio – Quentin Toles poured in 29 points on top of six rebounds and four assists to lead the Kentucky Wesleyan men's basketball team to a 76-58 triumph over Ashland on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers (6-2, 1-0 G-MAC) extended their winning streak to six games, sending the Eagles to 5-3 (2-1 G-MAC).
The first half was neck-and-neck, as neither team led by more than six points throughout the first 20 minutes. Toles hit one of his four three-pointers to send the Panthers into the break with a two-point lead at 33-31.
With 15:18 left in the second half, Ashland notched an and-one to cut the Wesleyan lead to 42-41. The Panthers then proceeded to go on a 30-6 run, including 10 more points and two more three-pointers by Toles, to build a commanding 72-47 lead with just under five minutes to go.
Wesleyan hung on to take home a 76-58 victory. On top of Toles' terrific performance, Logan McIntire had 12 points and five rebounds while Kennedy Miles joined them in double figures with 10 points, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Fatih Huyuk added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds, and Alex Gray played his usual do-it-all role with three points, five rebounds, and three assists.
The Panthers next head to Canton, Ohio, for a G-MAC battle against the Malone Pioneers. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM, with the Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team set to tip at 12:00 PM.
