Painesville, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team was defeated 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25 by Lake Erie on Friday night.
The Panthers fell to 0-22 overall and 0-11 in the G-MAC, while the Storm improved to 8-18 overall and 5-9 in the G-MAC.
Wesleyan still leads the all-time series 8-5, having won four out of the last six matches against Lake Erie.
KWC led the first set 20-19 after a Gracie Newton kill, but the Storm managed to score the next six points to take a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers got off to a quick 4-0 start in the second set, but ultimately failed to hang on in the end as Lake Erie took a 2-0 match lead.
Wesleyan stayed alive in the third set, using a 6-4 run to close out a 25-23 win in the third set.
The road team eyed a tied match as the fourth set was knotted up at 19-19, but Lake Erie closed the match out with a 6-1 run to down Wesleyan.
The Panthers were led by Tessa Jo Allen's double-double, as she racked up 14 kills and 13 digs. Julia Kupper also had a double-double, tallying 15 assists and 11 digs on top of eight kills and two aces.
Newton had an astounding career-high seven blocks to go along with six kills in the match. Ana De Sevilla-Acosta had a team-high 17 assists and added two aces to her ledger.
The Panthers have two more matches left on their final road trip of the season, next taking on Ursuline in Pepper Pike, Ohio. First serve is set for 1 PM tomorrow, Saturday, November 9.
