Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan football team suffered its fourth consecutive loss on Saturday afternoon at Steele Stadium, a 49-9 defeat to No. 23 Findlay.
The preseason favorite in the G-MAC according to the coaches, Findlay moves to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference this season. Wesleyan falls to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the G-MAC.
The Panthers are now 0-8 against the Oilers all time since the series began in 2017.
The lone bright spot for Wesleyan was senior running back Brandon Mackey, who netted a season-high 149 rushing yards on the day that included a 90-yard touchdown run.
Coming right out and scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, Findlay never looked back. The Oilers took it to halftime with a 35-7 lead and used the majority of the second half with the intention of running out the clock.
Although Wesleyan notched a safety early in the half, that was all the Panthers could muster.
The Panthers are back home next week to face off against Lake Erie. Fans are encouraged to participate in the white-out theme, with the game kicking off at 4 PM.
