CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY - The Thomas More Saints avenged an early season loss at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday, taking down the Panthers 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 25-22).
TMU improves to 5-22 (3-13 G-MAC), while Wesleyan falls to 6-23 (4-14 G-MAC).
In the opening set, the Panthers led 22-21 late before the Saints rallied to get the 25-22 victory. In set two, Wesleyan used kills from
Nicole Hughes and
Mariah Jones to ignite a 5-1 run that gave the visitors a 20-14 lead. Late kills from Jones,
Julia Kupper and
Ava Rebarchik gave sealed the set victory, tying the game at 1-all. Thomas More didn't let that set deter them, as they used big runs in the middle of the next two sets to take the contest.
Nicole Hughes (17) and
Ava Rebarchik (11) each tallied double-digit kills for Wesleyan.
Julia Kupper dished out 31 assists, while
Stella Kleffman tied a career high with 23 digs. Rebarchik led with three blocks, while Kupper added three service aces.
Wesleyan closes out their season on Saturday when they travel to Nashville to take on the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
