OWENSBORO, KY - The Kentucky Wesleyan Men's Basketball team picked up right where they left off last week, taking down the Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Pioneers by a final score of 76-46. Leading the way was
Logan McIntire, who scored a team-high 17 points on an efficient 7-10 from the field.
The Panthers now sit at 3-1 (0-0 G-MAC), while CU-Harrodsburg falls to 6-1 on the year.
With Wesleyan leading 8-7 five minutes into the game,
Logan McIntire went on a solo 5-0 run to put the Panthers up by six. Wesleyan took their first double-digit lead a few minutes later when
Edward Jones Jr. flew through the paint for an emphatic dunk, putting the home side up 22-12. Two late free throws from
Alex Gray and four points from
Logan McIntire extended the Panthers lead to 43-27 at the half.
Kentucky Wesleyan kept the pedal to the metal in the second half, as an
Aleksa Rakic layup capped off a 12-2 run to open the final 20 minutes of play. With 11:55 remaining in the game,
Dom Subota gave the Panthers a 30-point (62-32) with a strong layup off an assist from
Fares Remouche. The Pioneers never got closer than 26 the rest of the way as Wesleyan cruised to the 76-46 win.
Wesleyan was efficient tonight, going 28-54 (51.9%) from the field and 6-16 (37.5%) from behind the arc. They held CUH to 19-54 (35.2%) from the floor and just 5-28 (17.9%) from three. The Panther defense was especially solid in the second half, as they held CU-Harrodsburg to just 19 points on eight field goals.
Two Panthers finished in double-figures, with
Logan McIntire notching 17 and
Edward Jones Jr. scoring 13.
Alex Gray stuffed the stat sheet, scoring four points and tallying seven rebounds and a season high nine assists. Despite being the shortest Panther on the floor,
Kennedy Miles led the team with eight boards.
Kentucky Wesleyan opens up conference play on Thursday when they host the Findlay Oilers, who currently sit at 1-4 and fell 96-90 at Trevecca Nazarene earlier tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's game.
