NASHVILLE, TN - The Kentucky Wesleyan Women's Basketball team came alive on Saturday afternoon, shooting over 50% from the field en-route to a big 81-55 win over Southwest Baptist. Leading the way for Wesleyan was trusty senior
Jordyn Barga, who went 7-for-10 from the field and scored 20 points in the contest.
Wesleyan gets their record back to .500 (1-1), while SBU falls to 0-2.
Nothing could stop the Panthers early as they hit five of their first six shots and jumped out to a 13-2 advantage.
Jordyn Barga hit a big three right before the first quarter buzzer and Wesleyan led 26-13 after one.
Barga kept her hot streak going in the second quarter, scoring hitting two threes and scoring Wesleyan's first eight points to help the Panthers extend their lead to 16. Continuing to push the pace,
Myah Montgomery hit a three, and
Emmy Ralph knocked in a late layup to give the Panthers a 44-22 lead at the break.
Shooting over 58% in the second half, a bucket by
Corina Conley helped Wesleyan take a big 75-43 lead late. There was no stopping the Panthers at this point, and they cruised to the big 26-point win.
Jordyn Barga hit seven shots and four threes to total a team-leading 20 points. Also finishing in double figures was
Corina Conley (12) and
Myah Montgomery (10). Freshman
Jordan Gillies hauled in five boards, while

As it normally is, the pesky Panther defense was the key to victory, as they forced 27 bearcat turnovers in the game.
Wesleyan will open up their home slate next Wednesday when they host the Simmons College Falcons. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
