Panthers Too Smooth for Oilers

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team picked-up its fourth win in a row on Thursday evening. Behind an impressive defensive effort, the Panthers distanced the University of Findlay in the second half to earn a 78-54 Great Midwest victory. Four players reached double figures in the win as Cali Nolot finished with a game-high 22 points.

Law of averages were in the Panthers (11-4, 7-1 GMAC) favor after struggling from the perimeter in the previous two games, Wesleyan shot nearly 60% from the field, including a six for 16 clip form the arc on Thursday. The Oilers (4-12, 1-7 GMAC) stopped the Panthers' momentum at the end of the second quarter, picking-up a few baskets late to go into the locker-room trailing 35-28.

The Panthers' defense took over in the third quarter. Wesleyan forced eight turnovers in the quarter and held an 11-3 advantage in points off turnovers.   The Oilers were held scoreless for nearly seven minutes to start the second half. In that time, Wesleyan outscored Findlay 16-0 to build a 51-28 lead. Cali Nolot accounted for the first nine points in the third as she finished with 11 points in the frame.  After a 26-8 barrage of offense in the frame, the Panthers started the fourth with a 61-36 lead.

Wesleyan then shortened the game in the fourth, working possessions late into the shot clock. The lead continued to grow in the final frame as Jordyn Barga extended the Panthers' lead to 78-48 after a three-point basket with three minutes to go into the game.

Nolot finished the game nine of 14 from the field for 22 points. She also collected five rebounds. Tahlia Walton added 12 points and pulled-in four rebounds. Corina Conley recorded 11 points on the night while Shiya Hoosier finished with 10 points and five assists.
