FRANKORT, KY - Kentucky Wesleyan lit up the scoreboard on Thursday afternoon, outscoring Kentucky State 33-5 in two game to sweep the Thorobreds 23-3 and 10-2.

Kentucky Wesleyan improves to 7-19 on the year while Kentucky State falls to 9-11.

Game One

The Panthers scored early and often against the Thorobreds, taking advantage of nine walks in the opening inning to score 12 first inning runs.

The second inning scoring all came from MaKenna Page, who hit her first home run of the day to score Hannah Scheberle

Wesleyan continued their scoring barrage in the third inning, scoring five runs to make it 19-0 after three. With the bases loaded, Calysta Crum walked to score Lacie Mills, then Page launched a grand slam into orbit to extend the Panther's lead.

Following a scoreless fourth, Wesleyan went back to their scoring ways in the fifth. Page hit her third home run of the game to score Scheberle, then a Sarah Linville walk and a Cameron Hamilton hit by pitch with the bases loaded gave Wesleyan their final two runs of the game.

With her three home runs, MaKenna Page tied Haleigh Ashworth (2006 at Wisconsin-Parkside) for the most home runs in a game in Wesleyan history.

Page went 4-for-4 on the day, while Hannah Scheberle, Mary Morgan, Mikayla Benson, and Lacie Mills each recorded two hits in the game. Mary Morgan struck out three in the win.

Game Two

MaKenna Page started out game two just as hot as game one, hitting a solo home run in her first at bat in the second inning to put Wesleyan up early. Sarah Linville then hit an RBI single and Lacie Mills stole home to make it 3-0. Hannah Scheberle hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 and close out the scoring for KWC.

Mills scored on an error in the fourth and Calysta Crum used an RBI double to score Sarah Linville to make it 6-0 after four.

The Panthers scored four runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead and take the game by a 10-2 score.

Sarah Linville went 3-for-4 in the game with two runs and two RBI's. Cameron Hamilton struck out six in the win.

The Panthers will be back in action Saturday when they head to Nashville to take on the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene at 2/4 p.m. CT.
